Audition and Lion King

On Sunday I auditioned for a student film at NYU called Over//Loaded. I was supposed to have met with the Director on Friday but we somehow got our wires crossed and didn't meet.

The basic premise is a young man sits in a room surrounded by tv screens, his mum, his girl friend and a friend try to pry him away from the screens and reconnect with real life again. I auditioned for the part of the mum.

This is going to be done this coming Thursday in their three camera studio. He is going to use blue screen to get the illusion of the live people being on screen in front of the projected picture.

The audition turned out to be perfect in the fact that George hired me on the spot for the role. That's just the way I like it. No fuss, no muss. I took the script with me as I left. Lines to learn but the dialogue flows easily so should be easy to memorize.

Nice way to start the day.

Headed back up to Time Warner to take pictures of the Lion King exhibit. See above. Rather nicely done. I haven't seen the Broadway version, well to tell the truth I don't think I have even seen all of the movie. Frankly I don't think there are any parts for me so it is fairly low on the list of things to see. I really did like seeing the costumes and reading about how they do some of the illusions for the stage. I also really like that Julie Tamor in doing the staging uses the costumes to enhance the actors not totally cover them up.

When I got home I watched the Movie Troy with Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, Sean Bean, and Peter O'Toole. Okay must say they sure played with the story. The Trojan War took years this made it seem like about two weeks. Playing a little fast and furious with the story here aren't we?????

Though I have to admit that Brad Pitt is one handsome guy and very pleasing to watch.

The Trojan Horse left lots to be desired. They couldn't see through that???? It looked rather shoddy in my book and quite obviously not what it was supposed to be and why it didn't fall apart from the beach to the city of Troy is beyond me. Also, if Orlando says to burn something - burn it - it will save you lots of trouble in the long run people.

Thought it was cute that Orlando (Paris) ended up with a bow and arrow again. Channeling Legolas are we???

I did like the production quality. And really it was good for what it was and enjoyable in an eyecandy pretty pictures kind of way.

I enjoyed Peter O'Toole but then again I always do and he was interesting to watch as Priam. But were was Hecuba??? Where was Cassandra????

I will be interested in seeing the "Making of" DVD.
